Last night I had a large pipe stuffed with Foggy Bottom and a glass of scotch...I will say this blend goes very nicely with the scotch. The flavors really melded and complemented each other...just sayin'
Just for the record, what Scotch?
Last night it was JW Red...I suspect that the Black would be even better...the smoke really brought out the flavors of the scotch and the scotch gave a deepened smoky flavor to the tobacco

This is very interesting. I was sipping Bourbon and then set it aside until pipe was done. I like JW. Very interesting, indeed.

When we were testing, I might have sipped some bourbon...but the scotch last night really was a match with the Foggy Bottom

It's been a very long while since I had any Scotch around here, JWR ain't a bad value. Last time I drank it was after a very stressful meeting in Chicago, and it suited the evening very well.

I wonder if a scotch cased Flake would be good...

You wonder? Aren’t you The Mr. Advent 2019 Bakky guy? Wonder? I expect to see it between day 8 and day 12.

You’ve had P&C sanctioned bakky. Get to work, slacker.

Hey, maybe we can reproduce Jeffersonian at the CPS Level. That would be fun.

Wait. Get to work on yer Scotch infused receipie. We’ll talk Jeffersonian Realse 2.0 later.

Foggy Bottom in a new Ropp bulldog. No bowl coating!

First off - I like the cut. I'm not sure what I'd call it, but to me it's like a crumbled crumble cake. I just dumped it in and tamped it down. I'm not a careful packer. False light, light tamp, and then off to the races.

Smokes as easy as anything. I'm a clencher so the pipe spends a lot of time in my mouth. Constant airflow kept the bowl going all the way down with only one relight. I smoke little pipes and I don't really care how hot they get. I'm not a super taster so I tasted burley throughout and maybe a little lat here and there. JMcP noted cedar notes. Yep. There is some spice and astringency at the back of the tongue and through the nose after puffing, maybe due to perique and the different orientals? The room note is pleasant and it's not at all heavy. Not heavy on the palate either. Light in nicotine. This could be an all day smoke.

The room note reminds me of what Hardwicke's Pipe Shop in Indianapolis used to smell like.

Foggy Bottom.

Base Ratios:
40% C&D VA Gent
50% LL RR
5% Dark Fired
5% Dark Burley

Condimental:
11% Perique
5% Latakia
5% Orientals*
2% Blac Cav

*Splitting this to a 50/50 Oriental blending and Smyrna seems to work well.

A month if I can stand it.

Had a small plug pressed for 3 weeks. Mighty yummy.
