Discontinued Peterson Blends

Post by Riff Raff » Wed Jan 09, 2019 4:05 am

I have some sad news, if it is true. I was perusing one of my favorite german online tobacconists (danpipe.de) and this is what was posted on the Peterson's page:

Peterson's

The Irish company Peterson offers high-quality pipe tobaccos for the finest smoking pleasure since 1865. English blends, aromatic blends and flakes for the experienced smoker belong to the assortment.

Unfortunately, the following tobaccos are no longer produced - grab while stocks last :

Peterson's Irish Oak
Peterson's Irish Mixture
Peterson's Sunset Breeze
Peterson's Killarney
Peterson's Luxury Blend
Peterson's De Luxe Mixture
Peterson's 3 P's Perfect Plug
Peterson's Hyde Park
Peterson's Connoisseur's Choice
Peterson's Original 1865 Mixture

I think the biggest hits are Irish Oak & 3 P's. Just hope you guys can get what you want/need.

Oh, and just so you know, none of these blends are available at danpipe.de.

Thanks for the heads up, they'll be missed I'm sure. I know I've been through a tin or more of the Irish Oak, and probably some of the others as well.

The 3P's Plug is the only one I will miss personally, but there are some popular blends on there.

FWIW, I called smokingpipes dot com and asked about Hyde Park. The guy spent a couple of minutes checking and said he couldn't find anything about it being discontinued.

That was brutal.

All I know is that was posted on DanPipe dot de. There was another German online site that still had some 3P's and I got the last 5 tins.

I sure as heck don't know what's going on.

Modern Peterson blends weren't manufactured by Peterson.
I hate to sound like Rusty, but 'tis true.

Well, I hate sounding like Rusty even more than you do, but he would have wanted to tell you Kohlhase and Kopp isn’t the prime maker of Peterson-branded blends. Scandinavian tobacco makes most of the Peterson blends, except Hyde Park which is Gawith and Hog. Irish Oak and Sunset Breeze are K und K, and some of the specific year blends.

I hate to post clickable links, but this is the last that I remember us saying on the matter.

My B&M has had Peterson products (both tobacco and pipes) distributed to them by Ashton, and after the sale went through Ashton announced that they were no longer going to be distributing any Peterson stuff.

I messaged The Country Squire asking about the limited availability of many Peterson blends last week. They featured my question on the latest episode of Country Squire Radio. Mr. Cole was saying that this is just a hiccup in distribution. Sykes got the pipe business, and STG has purchased the tobacco side of Peterson. As ownership has changed, there are also changes in the distribution network - hence the temporary lack of availability. All should be back to normal soon.
