As promised, a very transparent look into those sworn to secrecy.

TF-HQ R&D recently polled Team English for their input on the adding Perique into the introductory TB English recipe.

Bold. Their responses begin to forge the path to TB* 2019

Creasey Bear - whined about it and came back noncommittal. Definitely not opposed.
slacker - no issue with the concept
TEalias - no issue with the concept
Sir Grump- whined about it and came back noncommittal. Definitely not opposed.
HeavyDuck - whined about it and came back noncommittal. Definitely not opposed.

The Director of R&D's head is wrapped in duct tape because we fear it's about to explode.

Who are these people? Why did I hire them?

*The Blend (TB). Final nomenclature to be determined.

Hello. Hello.

There was a glitch in the TF-HQ SQL Server and we lost one of the English tasters ship to address.

This has now been corrected and the first round of TB-E will complete the shipping milestone on Monday, February 25th NLT 3pm EST.

Our apologizes for the tardiness. Our SQL Server guy feels bad. He's our only guy. I can't really fire him, urm or her.

He or She really feels bad. Like really.

um-k?

E-1.0: The bag note is smokey and has almost a leather note to it. The initial thoughts on this are so very smooth with a nice full almost creamy mouth feel. I get that latakia may not be that heavy in this but it seems to be a front runner in a very balanced blend. Again smooth as silk smoke. I can easily enjoy a bowl while reading and be happy until there is nothing but ash left. At first I thought it was to well balanced in that there was nothing that stood out or was striking or particularly interesting in this blend. But after my third bowl I am thinking this is a terrific all day english and it is my favorite of the two.

E-2.0: The bag note to me is smokey but with a nice mustiness to it, somewhat like an old book store. Right away this one is harsher around the corners than E-1.0 and not nearly as smooth and balanced. I know there is more latakia in this one but I feel that the virginias help make this one sweater and somehow that lets the orientals shine a bit more. With the first bowl I really liked this one as it seemed more of a stand out over E-1.0 but now after three bowls I have begun to realize that it is not as head and shoulders above E-1.0 and that maybe what I at first thought was something special is not there as I have really grown to like the other blend more.

Again nice and creamy and for a reference I would say more creaminess then Black House yet not near as much as Magnum Opus

E-1.0: When I opened the bag, I got the pleasant leather and campfire scents that I love in a good English blend. The It looks every bit the typical English blend with black and amber and tan ribbons, it was the correct moisture for stuffing into my pipe. First light was rewarding with the taste of the smoke and leather and it was very smooth with a nice full creamy mouth feel.

I like a strong latakia blend, and while it is not a strong component here, it is present and towards the front of this blend. Very smooth smoke. This was a light it and puff it gently while working on other things, or letting your mind wander, it is not a blend that needs much "Tending". This is a terrific all day English.

E-2.0: The bag note on this has more smoke and the leather scent is a little less and there is a mustiness (Sir Grump's word) to it, like a cigar shop on a rainy day. This one was also right on as to the moisture and was ready for the pipe. At first light this blend has a little kick of extra smoky flavor and then it settles down and the leather and the smoke start to play well together. This blend is less refined than the E-1.0 but it has the "feel of the woods", a ruggidness that I like. There is a little more latakia presence here and the Virginias take more of a supporting role and the Orientals come through and stand out a bit more. This blend just takes me to the hills and it will be a great Fall smoke.

Conclusion:

Blend E-1.0 is refined and smooth and perfect for a library or smoking lounge while reading or chatting and solving the world's problems. A smooth and classy English.

Blend E-2.0 is a "...grab the shotgun and meet me at the barn, we will ride to the gap and hunt the birds..." kind of smoke. Or maybe its, "...pour a glass and sit on the porch of the cabin and re-live the days time on the river..." If you couldn't tell this was my favorite of the two. It is a little rough around the edges but smooth in its transitions to the flavors it brings.
