C&D Opening Night...

Post by JMG » Sat Jan 19, 2019 3:36 pm

I wanted to smoke something new. So, I looked in my cellar (read "box") and found some C&D Opening Night from 2015 in a mason jar. No idea where I got it. This is definitely my favorite thing I've smoked in recent years. It's like a more flavorful, smoother, Rattray's Old Gowrie. Man, this stuff is good.

Anyone else had this? Thoughts?

I enjoy it. It's a straight Virginia flake that has good complexity with some hints of fruit and sweetness. Plus, no "grassy" tones, at least in tins with a touch of age. It's not an every day smoker, for me, but worthy of a visit from time to time.

This is on my wishlist of blends to try.

Also, speaking of Old Gowrie, I paid $24 for a 100 gram tin of it while at the local B&M shop today. It was sitting all by itself on the corner of the shelf, looking lonely. I've not had it yet, but the tin description of Virginias & Kentucky with a pinch of perique sounds tasty.
I tend to find the doctrinal books often more helpful in devotion than the devotional books.... I believe that many who find that "nothing happens" when they sit down, or kneel down, to a book of devotion, would find that the heart sings unbidden while they are working their way through a rough bit of theology with a pipe in their teeth and a pencil in their hand.

Sounds good, and I think I have some of that around here somewhere.

Because of this thread I have an 8oz tin of Opening Night on standby for when I run out of Old Gowrie.

The preacher man has a box? I dont have a box.

I'm ecstatic that the preacher man has a box. May I contribute to the box?

Another one to add to the list. I was sold when Bob said it wasn't grassy.

Eddited to add that when I went to add it to my tobacco list on SP it was already there . . .
