I wish Navy Flake would show up in stock sometime.
Tobaccopipes has Navy Flake in stock - 50g tins only: https://www.tobaccopipes.com/samuel-gaw ... e-tobacco/
Tobaccopipes has increased their prices quite a bit on SG over the past year.

They are a little bit higher on SG now, yes. OTOH, they don't charge me sales tax and they have a lower purchasing threshold for free shipping, so there's that.

True on the free shipping . . . though in Florida I get charged a little tax (but not the 85% tax I would get in a B&M).

Do you get hit with that tax on Bulk tobacco? The last time I was in Florida I couldn't even find tins on the shelves

All tobacco purchased through a B&M in Florida has the 85% excise tax added after state and county tax. Basically tobacco is twice as expensive as it is on line. That said, it could be worse, it could be like the poor brothers in Australia have it.

Interesting. This might explain why Florida-based Eddie Gray thepipenook.com says on his website that he does not ship to FL residents. I guess he doesn't want to have to mess around with collecting this tax and passing it on to the state.

It is rather sad. I prefer to find the positive in it - more VaPers for the rest of us :)

I'm having a bowl this morning.

After I finished off my first tin a couple of months ago, I ordered 7 more tins.

This is good stuff.

Thanks to a generous CPSer, I was able to review some Hansom Flake. My take:

I smoked a couple of bowls in a small billiard at medium pace. Fully rubbed out. --Heads up -- I am not really a VaPer guy. It's not that I don't like VaPers at all. I just like other stuff better. YMMV. My benchmark VaPer would be Escudo.

I immediately felt a tickle and spice at the back of my throat, which I am assuming is the Perique. I could tell that the Virginia was good leaf as the base, but nothing about it shined. Not particularly sweet. I found it burned well and was a homogeneous smoke. I feel like if I had trucked through it I would have felt too much nicotine and it would have become an ashy smoke. My mouth was pretty dry at the end which, I'm guessing, is how Perique affects me. The room note, to me, was almost pure Virginia. My wife says cigarette. It wasn't the baking cinnamon bread note that I get with Escudo. I detected little "Lakeland essence" in the bag or in the smoke. Maybe it's because I am used to Ennerdale Flake which is made by the other guy and a little over the top.

So, it is good quality leaf, but a middle of the road smoke for me. If given a choice between this and Escudo, I would go with Escudo. But I'd skip them all for some Ennerdale Flake.
