Cool thread.

I've a stash of 45's I need to dig out.
Like this one?

Oh, yeah. Now you're talkin.' I think I had that 45 and wore it out, never for a moment thinking maybe I'd better get another one and squirrel it away.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal

Horror stories ...

True story right there.

It was like people didn't care about sound quality because they were getting free music.

The days of Napster seem so long ago now.

:

On topic of 45's,
I continue to be astonished what some of the rare titles will fetch:

Image

My problem is that I don't know what's what or who to look for and very well could have flipped right past something very valuable...

...not that I look much anymore as it requires too much time and patience to flip through stacks and stacks of 45's and my legs start getting numb and my eyes glaze over.

The last time I did look was around a year ago when I happened to find myself in a really good antique store and noticed they had a large amount of records at good prices, many of the 45's were from a radio station and were in excellent condition --- often the 45's are trashed pretty heavily.

I just go by my gut and pick out stuff that may ring my bell --- since the records I found at that place are in immediate reach because I haven't filed them away yet, I'll snap a few pix...

Any time I see Earl Nightingale,
I gotta get it.

Ditto with truck drivin' music.

Or anything that looks like it might be surf music.

Classic country.

Image

Or songs I know but done by an artist unknown to me.

Image

Sometimes it's just the song titles or band names that grab my attention.

And,
Roger Miller because I love Roger Miller.

Always great to get a picture sleeve too!

Aye. One time me and a friend, I mean my friend were at a bhs show and mr Leary was smoking on a bench. After he got up, we, I mean my friend walked over and found a piece of "tobacco" that mr Leary must've dropped. So we, I mean my friend smoked it.

We, I mean he, saw strange things shortly afterwards and during the light show during the show we, I mean my friend hallucinated that God was coming back to earth. Very strange.

Almost forgot...

...I went looking for viddies to see those old 45 players. Some of them were record changers so they'd be all stacked like a jukebox.

And,
I saw this one too which I ain't ever seen,
and it's pretty dang cool.

Jo probably has three of these.

Maybe he will give you one.
