Compex Ice Halo Display
I read recently that this phenomenom (ice halo) sometimes shows up as an "X" over the sun. The writer, A.H.M. Jones - Constantine and the Conversion of Europe, hypothesized that this is what Constantine saw when he looked up and saw the sign of the cross in the sky.

Thanks for posting the pic, Uncle Bob.

Best Wishes,

Going over the Intracoastal Waterway, looking north. It's a sharp turn for long barges. Off to the right is the Mud Lake marsh, which I've duck hunted in years past. A pretty tough marsh.

Looking south from the bridge; barge, dredge, and crew boat. The marsh to the right is part of the Anahuac Natl Wildlife Refuge, where waterfowl hunting is allowed. Another tough marsh, but we've had some very good hunts there.

This placard cracked up my internal 7th grade boy sense of humor. Don't judge me. Image

Looking from Texas, across the lake over to Louisiana. The Gulf of Mexico is ~ a mile SSE from this spot.

I was at my grandson's 7th grade football game this afternoon with no umbrella, went up next to the press-box to escape the rain and got a pic of a rainbow in the background behind the stadium. My grandson is #63 btw, and had a great game. He never came off the field; played offense, defense, kickoffs and returns. He was one tired young man.

They won, btw. And did I tell you that my grandson had a great game?

Yes you did, but that is fine with me. A grandpa is supposed to brag.

When I see places like this, I wonder about the people who once lived there.

Me too.

I also wonder how fun it would be to save the buildings.

This guy pretty much blocked the road on the way home from the golf course this afternoon.

This is St. Mary's Abbey or what's left of it in Melrose Scotland. Legend has it that Robert the Bruce's heart is buried there. A few years ago a small box was found buried there. It was about the size to hold a heart. This has given some weight to the possibility that the legend may be true. I got a senior discount for admission.
