This last week we had windstorms again. Now we're finally getting our first good snow of the season. It started this afternoon and we're up to about 3-4". The drive home from work should be fun.

Re: How's the weather where you are ?
A few inches of snow overnight. Clearing now.
The forecast for later in the week is snowy with amounts uncertain, but very intriguing. This is from a local meteorologist’s blog:
“The amounts that the models are coming up with over the next 7-10 days are irrelevant until they figure out what is going to happen. This will cause your various weather apps to go back and forth between inches to feet so I would caution you not to rely on them just yet. I saw one model the new GFS FV3 show 65 inches from Purgatory to Telluride and 48 in town Durango over the next week, at the same time the Euro showed 1.5 inches of rain make 11 inches of snow and slush in Durango and 20 inches of snow at the resorts.”
Let’s see ...
65” at the ski area and 48” in town would put us at around 5’ of new snow.
That would be interesting if it develops.

We'll get some bit of rain from the tail end of these huge storms coming into California again. But boy oh boy is there an enormous snowpack in CA's Sierra Nevada now. And 8 more feet from these most recent storms

Re: How's the weather where you are ?
We are going into this current storm (the atmospheric river is flowing over the Colorado mountains tonight) with a normal snowpack:

The near forecast is for several good storms over the next week.
I’m growing hopeful that the exceptional drought we’ve been experiencing will break this winter.
Meanwhile ...
It’s been snowing like a mother here all day. Our power has gone off three times so far, most recently for an hour. They’re keeping up with it so far, but we just walked the dog and discovered about a foot and a half of heavy new snow in our driveway, and all of the branches of our trees sagging.
I’ve got the backup heat going, just in case, flashlights and candles out and the bathtub filled with water.
All of which is fine with us.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Another totally cloudy day here, but mild after light rains last evening. Forecast to be clearing all next week, but very chilly (for here, anyway). Frosty mornings and highs only in the low to mid 50s. Arizona's version of the Polar Vortex

Re: How's the weather where you are ?
I have that exact thought each evening when I watch the weather forecast for your area as well as the mountains between us. After all the fires last year, I've not heard a single person grumbling about the snow this season. My MIL visited last month and we took her to the mountains and the river where she lived for 10 years working in her parents lodge and visited for 20 years after. She was heartbroken to see how low the water is and said she'd never seen it that low. There's a rock in the river towards the bottom of the canyon with lines and numbers painted on it that provides a measure of the water level. It was there long before we could check flows on the internet. The water is 8-10" below it's zero mark.durangopipe wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 9:08 pmThe near forecast is for several good storms over the next week.

Is this southern Arizona
It's 11 am and sunny but only 46 F. And it's going to be even colder over the next few days.
