Woke up to 3” of fresh snow on top of around 3’ remaining on the ground.

This is projected to be a 4 day storm with mixed rain and snow. We are, as usual, on the dividing line between snow and rain and could get either mostly rain or mostly snow.

The mountain snowpack is building toward a record year.
Runoff and spring avalanches will no doubt be epic.

Springtime in the Rockies.

Wow, you still have 3 feet of snow on the ground in Durango.

As for here, we are chilly this morning. 8:30 and only 49f. And there is another weather system coming in with maybe 1/2 inch of rain.

Down in town there’s a lot less snow.

Quite chilly for 4 pm in the afternoon for March 12. 50f, after quite a bit of rain which began yesterday afternoon and has finally just begun to clear out. Though, we will have some more bands coming up with less intensity.

Tonight's low will be 40 f.

Rained all day yesterday.
Snowing all day today.

Wolf Creek Ski Area has received 45" from the storm so far.

Lots of bad news on the avalanche front, but the worst is two people buried in a roof avalanche while shoveling their roof in Crested Butte. One of them died.

A sheriff's deputy lost his house in an avalanche just outside Lake City. The three people in the destroyed house were rescued.

US Hwy 550 over Red Mountain Pass south of Ouray is buried and getting deeper all of the time with no re-opening date proposed.

Well, my daughter and her family made it to Breckinridge this past weekend. Sounds like they're having a great time. But it may be a few days before theyll be able to start back home.

Things are really icy this morning. I got up early and made it to work before traffic. I-25 and I-70 in the metro area are good, but it will take a while today to get the surface streets clear and I hear that I-70 East and I-25 South are a mess still. Glad they are having a good time. Weather is supposed to warm and the roads will be back in shape soon.

A very pretty drive. Likely not much traffic, till they get to HWY 50 West of Canon City. Continued prayers for their safe travels

It's going to be a green spring & summer for you.

We also have had far above normal rain here in the SW Deserts.

It got above freezing today! :cheese:

Nasty weather to the south of us yesterday, though we missed it. Flood forecast is not good right now.
