Snow today. Rain this afternoon. Frozen slushy stuff on the roads. Very glad to work from home.

We got about half the snow y’all did and some sleet, yucky slushy roads check! Hoping to go for a snowy pipe walk later. It’s nice being a teacher in VA, getting surprise snow days in December.

Woke from a sound afternoon nap disoriented. It was totally cloudy and I thought it was pre-sunrise morning. Had my morning Sam Gawith Chocolate Flake all rubbed out before I realized it was still today.

Day has dawned cloudy & 52 F. We've had more of this than usual. November was also quite chilly. For here anyway. My grapefruit is slow to ripen this year. Many still partly green. Grapefruit likes HEAT.

At 7:15 am, partly cloudy, winds calm, 42 F. Feels quite damp & cold. I don't like cold. I like heat.

Clear cobalt blue skies and 48 degrees F at 9 am. But we had a couple soft thunderstorms move through the area last evening as I was returning home from an overnight near Yuma.

Hoping for a good snowstorm last night and all day today; instead, we woke up to a dusting of snow and the storm has already passed.

42F is the forecast high today with partly cloudy skies.

Several neighbors’ wells have gone dry. They’ve installed cisterns and are having to haul water. So far, our well is holding up.
We remain in the drought’s bullseye.

You had said it was dry up there but I didn't realize it was that bad.

The day dawned clear but later in the day some serious looking clouds and then light T-Storms. I suspect we got 1/2 inch of rain. Just enough to keep the weeds growing healthfully. Where did I put that bottle of RoundUp?

Purgatory and Wolf Creek reported only 2”-3” overnight, but we’ve gotten 8”-9” at our house at 7,000’ so far and it’s supposed to snow all day and into the night.

I expect we’ll have at least a foot before this one is over, with more snow in the near forecast.

Our puppy is loving it. And damn, it’s beautiful.

WooHoo!

My grown kids and grands caravaned across KS yesterday. The usual 9-10 hour drive took 18 hours because I-70 was closed due to snow for a 100 mile stretch so they took secondary highways. Those roads were also "closed" but not gated.

Flurries and really cold here today. Winter has come.
