Storm has now passed. We got a foot of snow.
Temperature is dropping fast; we’ll likely be below zero by dawn.

Side note: our 21 year old Sears track drive snowblower that had sat idle for nearly two years started up with a single pull after gassing up and priming the carburetor!

Our pup, likely having never seen a snowblower before, treated it like an alien spacecraft with alternating fear and fascination.

The day must have dawned beautifully up there with white everywhere.

Here, we are quite chilly. At nearly 10 am it's sunny but only 40 f.

2018 is going out like a lion today, with 35 mph gusts, cloudy, and a forecast high of only 55. Frosty mornings

The last year of the decade. Soon it will be 2020.

It began to snow again around dawn this morning and it’s supposed to keep going until late tomorrow night.
They’re forecasting up to 2 feet for the mountains, up to 20” in town.

Given the way it’s already been coming down I expect a foot or two at our place.

Thank God.
We needed it badly.

I grabbed these just now, a few minutes before it got dark.

Wolf Creek ski area reported 29” from this storm so far and still snowing heavily at around 8:45 this morning.
Purgatory is reporting only a foot.

Just came in from outside.

We’ve been digging out and blowing snow since around 9:00 - it’s right at the 24” maximum depth my blower will handle, but it’s a dry snow so no problems throwing it. The storm appears to be tapering off now but squalls keep coming through.

WU has a warning for a hard freeze tonight but I see on the map we are at the division line of hard freeze and freeze, so I am not going to do anything preventative. Shows for here 31 degrees for about 3 hours early tomorrow morning. Even though I have exposed copper plumbing in the Arizona Room, I'm gonna risk it.

At the moment, 6:30 am, Tucson (about 120 miles east of here) is getting a light dusting of snow. Shows their low was 26 but ours was 32. But oddly our forecast high today is again only 46. Near record low high.
