Tolkien's Birthday!

Post by tuttle » Tue Jan 03, 2012 10:32 am

Happy Birthday Tollers!

what are you going to do to celebrate?

the Tolkien Society has an annual tradition in the form of a toast at 9pm your time (read more about that here)

I'll be reading portions of The Silmarillion and toasting at 9 (probably with dr pepper since I'll be at work...)

I might need to crack one of those tins of 3 Nuns I picked up in Vegas and pretend I'm his friend Clive, just for the occasion. :)

Cheers (in advance)

Hot ziggity! I'd love to drop in there, today.

Coincidentally, I just finished reading The Hobbit in the wee hours of this morning. I rang in his birthday in style, without even knowing it.

I will toast him at 9:00.

Happy birthday, master! Your faithful Smeagol revisits your works with zest from year to year (nice, tassty fissh, raw and writhing!) and is now perusing the drafts of The Hobbit, where in the first version we didn't even want to eat the nassty little Bagginses after we lost the riddle contest, and just showed him the way out, ach; GOLLUM!
