Leather looks good. Could be the seal on the fuel cap or, and I sure hope this is not the case, there could be a crack in the fount.

I have a couple white gas coleman stoves, can't remember the model numbers, found them in the local college's dumpster. I found a couple propane adaptors at Walmart. still have the tanks. Never have a problem with them.

Not sure. Serial number to find out? Likely won't be back for a few months, but will check next time.

On the bottom of the tank will be a number stamped on the left, that's the month and a number stamped on the right for the year.

A pipe and an adult beverage and the glow of my new old Coleman 220J Lantern.

I really needed that, bad day and I needed a quiet relaxing time to process. I may need to do the same tonight.

I found the fuel and I will fire it up tonight if it holds pressure.

Its a 242C and it is a nickel font but the nickle looks in rough shape. I haven't yet decided if I want to risk it by polishing it up.

I got it working today. The fuel sounds like there may be a touch of baffling, though. We will see how it looks running in the dark.

My 220J had the same kind of sound...I ran it at medium for about 5 min and it didn't go away...then when I re-lit it a couple of hours later, I lit it at a 1/4 turn and then when lit I opened it up full, it "puttered" for a few min and then stopped and ran quiet. Then the next night, Saturday night, it lit and ran with out the noise.

Well, it flicked for a bit and then evened out.I think it may have been some old fuel in the pipes, so to speak. It could be some particles in the fuel system in there somewhere. Time will tell.
