Re: Whiskey
I am rather loyal to what are referred to as "the olds" of American whiskey; that is to say, Old Overholt, Old Crow, and Old Granddad. I've drank gallons of Old Granddad, both to myself and with others, though never with my actual granddad. I'd often drink copious amounts of whiskey with an elderly priest of my acquaintance. That's similar, I suppose.

Went to two different stores and the only rye I could find was bulleit and templeton. Bought the bulleit. Will try after a bit.

Better than what I got. Only one little liquor store in my town and they do not have any rye.skales wrote:Went to two different stores and the only rye I could find was bulleit and templeton. Bought the bulleit. Will try after a bit.

Going to have to check out the big city (pop. 20,000) next time I am at work.

Re: Whiskey

Recommended to me by a workmate. Tried it last night. Nice, long, sweet fading to pepper and spice finish. No pipe with it, unfortunately. I would imagine that if one enjoyed VAPers, this would sit well as a pairing.

Louisville Distilling, makers of Angel’s Envy bourbon and rye, is building a new distillery in downtown Louisville. Remaking a big ol' brick building and installing all new equipment. Guess who's designing the grain storage, transfer and metering system? That's right bitches, it's ME!

Re: Whiskey

Was in town today to see my eldest and figured I would see what rye I could find. Found this and figured that the local economy could use my support.

The support local business thing is right on in my book. I was dancing through local California breweries when I had to lay off beer. Mighty great local stuff out there. Let us know what you think of it, mmmmm-kay?bilder wrote:

Was just given a bottle. Really enjoying it! Fairly sweet but not an over powering vanilla taste like i get with most wheated bourbons.
Congrats Fred!

Re: Whiskey
It has a sweet toffee/vanilla like taste that is smooth with a bit of heat at the finish just to remind you that you are dealing with a man's drink.Thunktank wrote:I need to find me some of that.bilder wrote:Drinking some now. "We asked six West-Coasters to try some of Kentucky’s best bourbon and, frankly, they have no idea what hit them (in the most hilarious of ways). Their reactions, much like a night fueled by bourbon, are ridiculous and unpredictable. You’re definitely going to want to see this."

Re: Whiskey

Enjoyed this with some Froggy Across the Pond last night. I'm finding that sweet spot in temp and water to pick up the cocoa flavors in the Rose's offerings.
