That’s how they show love.

Mountain lions love deer. (They bite them on the back of the neck.)
But they’ll settle for hikers in a pinch.

Been looking over some photos - 28 years of setters in our lives, 22 years of setters in our home ...

My buddy Jack and his setter, Spot, got us hooked on Texas quail and English setters.

Buddy and Freckles from Tekoa Mountain lines.

Quinn from Montana.

Panda, Quinn’s niece.

And finally, Iggy, rescued in northern Greece.

Iggy has his head on my thigh as I post.

I’ve come back to this photo a half dozen times or so. Remarkable pic and, I’m sure, a remarkable dog.

Here's a video of my two house beasts I made this morning. Vicious they are.

Very common joke around our house is, “You’re spoiling our bird dog.”
Yup. And no apologies for that.

Most of this is redundant to previous posts, so bear with me.

Had the COW (Center of the World) at the vet yesterday for some body work. Doc says we are well into the declining years, but she is still high enough on the happiness index that we don't have to make any hard decisions, yet.

I used to think a dog had to be big to be worthy, but this little thing has me tied up in all kinds of knots. Whoever coined the negative phrase "it's a dog's life" clearly didn't understand dog people. This baby gets better healthcare than her owners (she has her own pill organizer, for Fred's sake), she has memory foam beds in key places all over the house, she doesn't allow anything less than constant praise and affection, her diet is a high maintenance array of soft and hard foods with supplements and fresh food snackery, she has a fan club of kids in the hood that come to the door and ask to adore her, and she has her own playlist for when we leave the house to keep her entertained. We get up when she gets up and we go to bed when she's ready to go to bed.

I guess I just don't know how to have a dog that isn't spoiled rotten.
