We had to say goodbye to the queen of the house today. Yesterday she started having some twitching and minor seizure activity. By last night it had developed into chronic grand mal seizures. Something bad was happening in her head in addition to the growing list of health issues she already had. I drugged her up to get her through the night peacefully and we said goodbye at the vet's office today.

It was an incredibly sweet and sad moment. Gracie was quite a celebrity at the clinic. Between vet and grooming visits I'm pretty sure we paid their light bill. The techs would fight over her when I brought her in and she was always pampered. Before we sedated her they all came in the room to love on her and say goodbye. They brought her treats of peanut butter and a feast of Egg McMuffin. We then said our goodbyes and it was over.

While I'm at it I should brag on my grandson, Justin (HockeyBoy) a bit. His mom called him at work to tell him what was going on. Justin and Gracie grew up together and were thick as thieves. He left work and surprised us at the clinic. Without prompting, he loved on Gracie and propped up his grandma beginning to end. He stood up like a man. I was pretty proud of how this teenager conducted himself.

Thanks for letting me babble. I needed to get some words out.

Rest in peace, Gracie Lu Puddlemaker VH. We had 15 really good years.
