In the age of singing game shows where hardly anyone brings an original song (actually written by them) to stage, many good songs have been butchered by someone else's idea of how it should have been done. While everything ever made by man leaves for improvement, many folks do more harm than good. So what are some covers that y'all think are better than the original?
Here is one of my favorites. I enjoy this guy's music. He is an excellent writer himself, but he also does a few covers. Mrs. Joegoat and I had the opportunity to take a trip to Nashville this past spring and see him play live at The Ryman. This song was one of the ones he did. He has yet to record it on an album

"Hurt' was the first thing that came to my mind also. Johnny Cash's American Recordings are the best set of records ever recorded. Ever. Period. He also covered Father and Son with Fiona Apple. That one almost always makes me cry a little.

Dwight Yoakam covered quite a few songs and IMHO he was better than the original in most cases.

I agree on both! The Nine Inch Nails, granted I don't listen to them or their genre, original was awful!

For years, I had no idea that Blinded By The Light was a Bruce Springsteen song. I like them both.
