Space Force!

To stay within the perimeters of the ridiculously godawful ban that's been foisted upon us, a reminder per the ToS: Please refrain from commenting on how this will effect Government Spending and Debt and steer clear from US Partisan Politics, Pro/Con viewpoints of the standing Administration and/or Government, and Political Platforms.

But guys...we have to talk about this. The US will create a sixth branch of the military....a Space Force.

In the early decades of aerial weapons and warfare, there was no Air Force. There was an Army Air Corp and then a Naval Air Corp. Eventually, we recognized the need to create an Air Force.

With the growth of weaponized satellites, as well as protecting our critical satellites for global navigation and communications, the Air Force has worked with NASA (civilian forces) to maintain America's military interests in space. So there is a natural move now to break off the space branch into its own Space Force.

By the way: The mission of the United States Air Force is to fly, fight and win...in air, space and cyberspace.

I expect that there will could be a "Cyber Force" in the near future.

Through all the crazy talk and bellied laughter on this subject I actually found an unbiased, non-political article on this subject. It was refreshing to have something explained without the writers opinion.

It seems as though the Air Force has been doing what the Space Force will do. The AF has been navigating space junk for years. This is no small task and it is a huge problem the world has left to our AF. There are almost 4,000,000 directed collision prevention assists made by our AF every year. This means that our AF has to get on the horn 7 times a minute, 420 times an hour, 10,000 times a day to contact the owners of the colliding satellites and talk them through maneuvers.

90% of the satellites orbiting are junk. The SF is going to start operations to remove junk and set-up "highways". Removing junk will be difficult since some companies based their satellites off of using junk to ping their transmissions. Which brings up the problem of regulations, there are no current regulations. With SpaceX and the other giants now coming into play they say we will triple the amount of satellites within 10 years.

When it is all said and done nobody can really complain about something "new" here. This is something that our Air Force is and has been doing and these plans and discussions have all been in the works for years. This new branch free's our AF from being "space hall monitors".

By the way... the thought of a "Cyber Force" scares the heck out of me.

I like that our military is mostly made of Christian men and women who are easily formed in the noble and heroic virtues.

Military cyber geeks will be formed in leftist, elitist universities. They would not likely to feel any guilt about piercing and hacking into our private information, or planting false evidence. "Don't worry. We'll stop him."

The military cyber force will be focused mainly on commanding the drone fleets and taking out foreign infrastructure and preventing the same from happening here. It's the NSA cyber spooks you have to worry about.

It's a sad thing that Hope and Crosby are no longer with us. This is definitely "Road" movie material.

A Cyber Force is precisely the NSA cyber spooks, only military instead of civilian. And yeah... I'm worried.

I was in US Army Space Command. At first, our detachment of 14 strong, was under an Air Force 2 star general. After 6 months or so, Army Space Command ate up all them Space troopers and opened up their own command center.

This is the USAF Space Operators Badge. It is an higher award than jump or air assault wings. They don't award this to Army guys any more. I earned that mug. 12 weeks of training plus a solid year in the pit. 6 more months and I'd of gotten the star.

What's that? No. I didn't click the link.

Only Space Cadets selected by congressmen will be able to attend the Space Force Academy.
Then there is the issue of an academy mascot.
Army has a mule
Navy has a goat
Air Force has a falcon
Coast Guard has a....?,
Space Force might want Jar Jar Binks, or some clone,

Based on NASA's recent foray into the Z-1 Spacesuit series...

Image

I'm pretty sure that they're working toward a uniform like this...

In which case, the new space force will likely be called Star Command.
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.
