My New 2019 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 Dually Cummins Diesel

Post by Goose55 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 7:59 pm

On the way out, the 315,000 mile, 25 year old Toyota Tacoma and on the way in the new 2019 Dodge Ram 3500 4 x 4 dually Cummins Diesel.

Last Friday when I bought the Ram I left the Toyo at the dealer and my good neighbor drove it back a week later. I will clean it up and put it up for sale.

Out with the old and in with the new....

Love that new truck smell. Haven't experienced it since 2003 with my Tundra.

Read up on Particulate filters and SCR Catalyst, less pollutants than 10 years ago.

Still puts out CO2, so there is that carbon foot print thing the left is worried about.

Have fun, Only other warning I can give you is be careful where you fill up. BP has green covers on all their pumps.if you top off with gas the engine will still run, but the exhaust will get so hot on regeneration that it will cause thousands of dollars of damage that will not be covered under warranty, I have seen them melt the wiring harness that runs down the inside on the pass side frame and all the sensors in the exhaust, also will damage the particulate file and SCR Cat.

Seems all pick ups have several grill designs to choose from. I like this Ram grill I have best. I love all the chrome. On Friday I bought a small step ladder to keep in the truck so that I can properly clean the windshield. Sorry but there are some bugs on the windshield in this pic....

It has nearly an 8,000 pound payload. Though the bed is prepared for a 5th wheel hitch plate my druthers are a slide in camper. To get out of "Dodge" for a month each summer when its 1000 degrees here.

But first I want to pay off the truck. Hopefully in 2 years.

Here's an interesting short video with Roger Hapka, Lead Engineer at Cummins Pickup Truck Engines, at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. Explaining the significant improvements made to achieve the 6.7L High Output, 400 hp engine.....

Yeah, those slide in campers are nice. Especially the larger models that have all the extras. Just right for a person or two.

Northern CO would be a good escape route. Plenty of cheapish camping spots in my canyon, especially if you don't need 'lectricity and water. You can shower and do your laundry at my house once a week. I have beer.
