Some statistics that will amaze you:

My old Toyota Tacoma weighs 3,000 pounds. This Ram 3500 4x4 Cummins Diesel duelly weighs 12,000 pounds. 8O

And it gets the same fuel economy. How did they do that?

I think 12K is your gross weight (including your cargo of many gaggles of geese). Curb weight is probably about 7 or 8 K.

It's still a significant achievement to get that FE from a beast like that. Believe it or not it could be better (if it's anything like the Ford).

Unfortunately the DPF (diesel particulate filter) needs to be regenerated. This is is done by running rich to heat up the exhaust and burn off the soot that it has captured. When it's running this mode it drops your FE (my Ford PowerStroke goes to about 10 or 12 mpg).

A little bit about the revised Cummins engine in my truck....

At NAIAS 2019, Cummins Inc. unveiled its next generation 6.7L turbo diesel engine featuring a first-in-class 400 hp, 1,000 pound-feet (1,356 N·m) of torque. In addition to an increase in torque, the engine also has a higher horsepower output, taking the 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty RAM pickup truck customers to the next level of performance.

The detuned Hennesy 7.6 liter V8 engine in the F5 runs at ~1800 hp.
The engineers at Hennesy have run the engine at over 2000 hp.

We dropped one into our pickup:

It doesn’t tow all that well, but we would have won at Nürburgring if it hadn’t been for those dang corners.
The gas mileage isn’t too good, though.

Quite an improvement over my first (truthful) car out of college which had a 1.4 liter 4 banger that put out 68 hp.

The interior color of my Laramie Edition truck is very similar to this Laramie Longhorn, except for the few really nice refinements this Longhorn has. I think this Longhorn also has the Harmon Kardon Audio System, whereas mine has the Alpine & still sounds pretty darn nice. I also have the same 12 inch touch screen as seen here.

But I noticed in this pic this truck does not have the separate power concave mirror I have inside the side view mirror assembly. This concave remote adjust mirror, along with the audible warning chimes from the cameras are very useful to me because I have quite a narrow driveway right up alongside the house.
