I would like to have this room and much time to spend alone in it.

Room needs a pipe rack and a humidor. With an ash tray.

And probably a mini-fridge.

Of having this room? Little to none. Of having lots of time to spend alone in it? Most likely zero.

Very nice. I wonder what kind of wood that is, floors, walls and ceiling, and if the same type for all three.
I have something similar but nowhere near that neat or nice, but I still spend a lot of my alone time there.
I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)

A wise and caring wife would understand that her husband needs time alone to decompress after work.

Husbands need to be able to walk into the home after a horrific day at work, and hug his wife until her pent up stress, and tears, are resolved.

Who goes first? Whoever is stronger at that moment.

Husbands are not allowed to have their own room. That should be a guest room for the mother-in-law.

All that wood looks too dark. It needs to be painted. The books can go to Goodwill, and then there will be room for cute nick-nacks.

What's the male equivalent of a She Shed?

Oh, that's right - it's a shed. A literal shed.

Except the guy's shed doesn't have a mini-split, a fridge, wingback chairs, and delightful ambiance.

Man of your talents ought to be able to knock a little thing like that together in no time, JMG.

I have a tiny little study on our third floor. Just an old servant's room with a desk and piles of books. No comforts.

Men with as many daughters as we have need a space of our own, no matter how small or infrequently used.

It's my he-shed.

This is so true.

Due to re-rooming as children grow (in number and age), "my own space" has moved from it's own room in the basement (glory!), to a corner of a larger room in the basement (eh), to the homeschool room (not even mine anymore), and it is currently it its "own" room again upstairs which but is frequently utilized as a bedroom for the hormonal teenage girl.

I'd build a shed but I'd probably be chased out of that too.

Although I have a TON of work to do on my grandparents' old place that we bought, I am very blessed to have my Papaw's old shop. I don't think there is any danger of being run out of there by any of my girls. It's full of wood and metal working tools and mechanicing stuff (though I wouldn't mind at all if my girls took an interest in those sort of things). It's dirty, hot in the summer, cold in the winter. Just the type environment it needs to keep my ladies at a safe distance. They are always welcomed in, but it is definitely a place of respite.
