I would like to have this room and much time to spend alone in it.

Looks nice. What are the chances?

Of having this room? Little to none. Of having lots of time to spend alone in it? Most likely zero.
But I can certainly understand your desire to have such a place after spending so many years in the bush of PNG.

Goose prompts me to wonder about voluntary solitude among the Hewa. Do those guys ever go away from the village for a day or two of solitude in the jungle? Do the boys go on any sort of quest for manhood? I pay good money for gear and travel so I can live "primitively" and be alone in contemplative silence once in a while and I wonder if that's a product of only a "prosperous" society.

Nope. They are hardly ever alone for anything. That's when you are most vulnerable to get eaten by the evil spirits. No personally space/privacy was seriously one of the most difficult cultural things to adjust to.

There'd be a window unit or vent just out of frame.

We have a room with a skylight. We are planning to get a shade for it before next summer. It should be nice in December/January.
