The Mandalorian

Post by tuttle » Tue Nov 24, 2020 9:08 am

I was surprised we didn't have a thread for this show. Now we do!

Anyone else watch this?

For what it's worth I think this is currently the best show on TV. And it single handedly brought me back from being soured on Star Wars after that slopfest of a trilogy.

The stories are all pulpy adventures that pull inspiration from seemingly everywhere, swashbucklery abounds, mystery, humor, nostalgia, and it's something for all ages to enjoy.

Yep. We've seen every episode.

There's character development in this series that has been lacking in the Star Wars universe for some time.

Disney plus is $6.99/month. Just get it for this. It's worth it.

I'm not clicking on that link.

As for me, I've not been in that part of the internet... sorry to hear of that sub-culture.

The show does well by being episodic--- yet it's not really going anywhere so it leverages the episodic nature. You can get sufficient info to have the adventure of the one show... just don't try to piece the storyline completely together or it's "why did that even happen?" type questions. The funny part is that you can rip on the takes and the obvious crossovers:

1) giant worm with teeth? Dune like or tremors?
2) giant and many spiders? Could be Harry Potter-like.
etc.

That doesn't make it "bad" that makes it meme worthy.

It's worth watching-- and quality streaming level-- let's see what they introduce next (but high climax or closure I know isn't part of what to expect).

Funny thing... we caught Rudy the other night and my wife was like "I think I saw this" and I said "you think?... come sit down, I'm sure you'd have remembered it." As the credits rolled by the one Catholic character caught my eye. And I told my wife.. you know what he's from and she had a guess or two and I said well.. "Iron man chauffer" and "Chef" with the food truck and now doing cooking for real on some shows.... and he's executive producer on Mandolorian: Jon Favreau. Pretty good talent stack going on with him :)

Our Verizon 1yr free of Disney+ ends this week. We may do one month to close out the season (will it close out through December? those cheeky <zederated>).

In my state we'll all soon be wearing Mandalorian masks if our governor has his way.

Just try some suspenders with your suit and quit staring at Thunk's butt.

It's the sort of entertainment that doesn't require you to think. Not bad if your brain needs a break and you don't mind some rehashing and predictability in your plot lines.

i haven't watched it; for that matter, most of the recent buzz about Star Wars has been politicized... or is that just me?
