Sad...

Post by Gabriel » Sat Apr 10, 2021 5:41 pm

We have one down for the count. I was pulling some old camping stuff down from a high shelf in the garage and the metal frame for my old frame pack slid down and smacked my pipe out of my mouth and to the concrete floor. :(

Glad I didn’t break a tooth though.

Doesn't look broken in that pic - did the end of the tip piece snap off inside?

Snapped the tenon off the stem. I imagine it's still inside the mortise. Though, as far as repairs go, Gabe, this is a pretty easy one should you go that route. If I had my pipe tools set up I'd offer to do it for you.

That's right. As far as pipe breaks go; this is a good one. Lots of CPSers could make this right as rain in nothing flat.

I am not one of them, mind you.

Happened to one of my favorites once but the shank broke. However, Mike Myers made it almost good as new at Walker Pipe Repair.

Yep, tenon is snapped off inside the shank.

I’ll have to look into a repair. It’s not a high dollar pipe, but it was a gift and obviously a pipe I smoke regularly.

Wonder if Wayne is set up for this?

Walker Pipe Repair in Ann Arbor, MI is pretty reasonable with replacing a broken tenon. $25 or less I think.

Pretty easy fix. My workshop is in the process of being re-assembled at the new house, however. Not sure when it will be operational. I also have to finish a stem I promised Lushmojo that's taken me over a year first once the shop is up and running again.

I would like to have one of those. Looks like a great fishing pipe.
