psychotropic medication review and recalibration

Post by DepartedLight » Fri Apr 23, 2021 8:09 pm

I am beginning a psychotropic medication review and recalibration this Monday afternoon. Should take 9 - 10 weeks.

I hate these events. However, they are needed.

What new side effects await me?

Oh we might need a poll thread in the yut rooms!

And yes, this thread needs a poll.

Praying for you and your doctors. My family has unfortunately extensive experience with those meds.

OK y'all. Today was just an insurance jab.

Check out this racket.

My primary has to give me a referral to make an appointment with a: social worker, licensed practitioner.

Me: Can this person change my medications? I don't want to waste my time with a Social Worker.

Prime Doctor person: Oh we work closely to get that taken care of.

< in my head at 250 MPH >

So the social worker says take 250mg of Drain-o per day until dead and that's cool by you to prescribe?

< out of my mouth >

Oh, that makes sense.

This is the part that is the worst. I cannot be totally honest with my treatment team because I need to keep working and not be sequestered against my will in some psycho hospital for 30 days.

Thank you for the prayers.

Gotta just take it light.

First assessment meeting is in the books.

I like my headshrinker.

New add on meds pending. She said that within 3 days I'll know if there are side effects and if so stop taking the meds and call in.

Psychotic tendencies. That's not a side effect that's a life style. How am I gonna know if it's worse? Probably should have shared the chase a truck in the mall parking lot story.

That's a little unsettling.

There's a cat called Langhorne Slim that recently released an album about mental health during a pandemic. My favorite song is Panic Attack:

I called a healthcare professional
Wanna speak to someone confidentially

Don't know just how I'm feelin'
But I'm feelin' feelings exponentially

Calm voice started asking questions
Said, "Ma'am I was hoping for advice
I'm feelin' lots of feelings
Not a single one of 'em feels nice"

She said, "Do you ever think about dying"
Said, "No but sometimes I lie"

"Do you wanna live?"
Said, "Yes, but I feel like s**t"
On a scale of one to ten do you feel anxious
On a scale of one to ten do you feel scared
Said, "I'm feelin' lots of feelings
Some reason I cut my hair"

Sometimes my skin starts crawling
Sometimes the creature's calling
Sometimes the walls start caving in
Sometimes I feel isolated
Sometimes I feel so small
Sometimes I get irritated
Right now I feel it all

She spoke and I tried to listen
Said, "Son, there may be no cure
But I swear that life's worth living
It's the only thing worth living for"
To my friends in the same position
I wish there was a cure
But I know that life's worth living
It's the only thing worth living for

Mrs FredS is director of an IOP program for chemical dependency. She works from home these days (and hates it - she needs people way more than I do) so I sometimes hear her half of intake assessments. It's pretty much like the conversation above as she asks questions and ticks boxes. The bolded lyrics remind of DL's last post about reluctance to spill all the beans in the first session.

Praying for all who struggle.
