The May 17 deadline is just not doable for me this time, but I'll keep an eye on this for future dates. Thanks for posting!

Approved Ammunition
I might have missed it but I saw no qualifying ammunition in 45-70 or 50-70. That eliminates modern falling block rifles I think. I've got a Browning High Wall in 45-70. It would be cool to take a buffalo with it, not that I could afford such a trip.

There are other places that provide buffalo hunts, and they allow those traditional buffalo rounds.

I like Buffalo nickels.

Does that count?

If you want to shoot someone's buffalo, they'll charge $1,500 to $5,000.
You can shoot the National Park's Buffalo for $65 background check and the price of bullets.
Participants get a share of the meat but so far I haven't heard any mention of who gets the hides heads and horns.Image

I've got a fake buffalo robe now, that my wife won't allow in our bedroom. But I may order some bison steaks for the grill this summer.

Isn't all buffalo meat plant based?
Here's a video on what to do next after bagging your buff at GCNP

I’d be up for tromping around, but I’m not much a huntsman.

It has crossed my mind. I already hunt AZ. Been saving up elk and deer points. I was at the south rim two weeks ago after our visit to Sedona and Jerome. But let’s face it, the odds of me actually getting the tag are very low. I don’t play the lottery, but maybe I should start?

Buffalo is supposed to be very healthy, and I've had some that's quite delicious.
I never could get over the ethics of paying a huge amount of money to shoot a wooly cow in somebody's pasture though.
That's why I find the North Rim herd thinning so attractive.
