Trading Post vs. Private Sales?

Post by tennesseean_87 » Tue Jul 21, 2015 12:17 pm

So what is the difference? Is the former for trades and the latter for cash? I can be fairly active in trading and buying and selling as tastes change, I regret buying decisions, or I get estate lots with some pipes I want and some I'd rather refurb and sell/trade. Is there one place that I should post over the other?

It's ambiguous.

Trading Post - trade or sell what you want.
Private Sales - Only *Personal* Pipe, Tobacco, and Cigar Sales here

  • Trading Post for Trades (e.g. Bartering), but on a personal level
  • Private Sales is to sell items/product for cash - essentially for vendors

Wait... vendors are supposed to use the 3rd category. I have head ache.

Well whomever created them, made a mess. I'll combine them and it'll be obvious. There are some group permissions that restricted access to the Vendor area as well as others that allow only access to that area.

Legacy mess I'd say. I blame JB.

All Trading Post posts now reside in the Private Sales forum. Trading Post forum will be deleted shortly.

We now have Personal Sales and Vendor Sales.

Personal Sales are for Trading or Selling between CPS Members on the Forums (e.g. the item(s) in question are not advertised via eBay or other means to the public at large).

Vendor Sales are for Vendors to place Adverts, eBay Links, or pose Vendor Sale opportunities via their own Web or BnB Store Fronts.

That was quick. I didn't mean to make a hassle for the mods as a newcomer. I do have one question of clarification and one humble suggestion. For the former, may items be posted in the personal forum which are listed on another public pipe forum, so long as it's not linking to eBay, vendor, etc? For my humble suggestion, if the mods feel that the sub-forum description is not of sufficient length for these clarifications or wish to implement other rules for the trading post, a sticky thread entitled MUST READ (or some such) would be helpful to newcomers.

Again, sorry if this is a hassle, but I just don't want to break any rules in ignorance.

Great. I remember when we had "trading" and "sales". Life was wonderful and everyone knew the traditional meaning of "trading". Now we have SSM (Same Sales Moderation). Thanks Obama. And new guy.

Since you're on a roll, could you please notify the mods and admins about a problem with the Youth Room. Too many old geezers in it.
