Gulf Coast Pipe Show

Post by Fainn » Wed Feb 03, 2016 4:07 pm

So I moved to an hour away from New Orleans, only to discover that there will be no NOLA show this year. Anyone interested in doing something along the Gulf Coast? As far as I can tell, there are no major pipe shows in May or July.

No NOLA show? Why not?

I've never been to a pipe show. But I always like a meet-up with fellow pipers.

Their web page is down, but the FB page says it's due to "logistics" and they will be back in '17.

I would imagine it had something to do withe smoking ban they enacted in NO right before the show this past year. I'm just really hoping they have it again in '17 while I'm on furlough.

This is a bit of a disappointment. I was all set to go in 15 and had a last minute family issue. EVEN MY WIFE WAS EXCITED ABOUT IT! Last week I was planning my reservations and such for '16 and found the show was postponed.

We really NEED an event that can serve as a Texas meet-up location.

Yes. This.

Hmm... Dallas Comi-con is Feb 13.

I've been wanting to see one of those in person. I'll bet it's a hoot.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed that they weren't having the show this year. The show last year was second only to Chicago as far as I'm concerned and I arguably had a better time overall at New Orleans. What a great place to have a show. I never thought I'd enjoy New Orleans but boy was I wrong. Great food. Great music. Great fun.

Yep, I was registered for the NOLA show 2015 also but cancelled due to wife's surgery, etc. We both love visiting NOLA ... stayed at the Mazarin a couple of weeks ago; had a good deal for a room with balcony. Oysters Rockefeller at Felix were great also.

I never went to NO without going by the New Orleans Cigar Company; but I did this last visit. I heard that it closed.

I read the law. It wouldn't ban smoking at a tobacco unless it was at a casino. Was it at a casino in the past?
