Every once in a while I will think of this pipe and wonder what if. I've admired it for years. It's a Bang. If I ever saw it for sale again I think I could justify purchasing it.
I owned that pipe once. You’ll be ok.

For real? If that's the case, both you and wos have owned and passed on two of the most desireable pipes I have ever seen. Both Bangs.

For you Tinsky lovers, more power to ya, as I've never seen one pipe of his I've liked.

De gustibus, old chap. Most of what you smoke I wouldnt and I consider your adopted country a festering sore, but you dont hear me busting your chops....

Oh, wait. Guess I did. Boo to me. I only started eyeballing tinskys due to a great respect I've learned for durango's tastes.

Yes. That silver work is pretty unmistakable unless two were made. It was very pretty, didnt smoke as well as a Peterson, I always had the fantods about damaging it (a man should not own a pipe he'd can't afford to break), and the bit was uncomfortable for me.

So you'd have hated it. It really was not made as well as a JMG. Pure reputation.

That whippersnapper is a smart guy and entitled to his own likes and dislikes.

Tinsky’s are, in a word, idiosyncratic. Many of his takes on traditional shapes are “zaftig.” I like my pipes (some of them at any rate) zaftig. I can usually spot a Tinsky at 100 paces.

They smoke beautifully. The craftsmanship is superb. His coral rustication is one of the very few rustications I would often prefer over some others’ blasts.

Sharing a lot of personal history with him may have nothing to do with the pipes themselves but I cannot deny that it’s part of the appeal. We grew up within a few miles of each other. He spent a few years at the same university where my first wife's father (a dear, respected mentor and friend) once taught. He was a road bike enthusisast. He left the east to move west for many reasons, but mostly for the trout fishing ... and he’s never cared more about creating wealth than living a good life.

As a person, I like him.
We have similar values and have made many similar choices.

But mostly, it’s inexplicable.
Far more often than others’, I see one of his pipes and it speaks to me.

Were I not on a pipe diet, there are a half dozen available on his website right now that I’d have already purchased.

This one is outstanding in so many ways, it really calls to me, simply beautiful.

Additionally, this is the type of picture that belongs in the thread about pictures of pipes.

What a pile of Tinskys. Enough Tinskys to found a Tinsky Pipe Museum!

Yes! That's it! (Goose, you’re a fricken genius!)
This is not a case of out of control PAD. It’s a public service.

As Director and Associate Director of the definitely non profit American Smoking Pipe Co. Historical Society and Museum we are writing to you today to ask that all CPS members and pipe lovers everywhere consider the ASPCHS&M in their annual giving and charitable estate planning.

Our goal for 2019 is to raise enough money to purchase 100 additional ASPC pipes for the collection and to build a worthy museum (on the banks of the Upper Missouri River in Montana) in which to house the collection. $1 million should do it.

As a 501c3po organization, your non tax deductible contributions should be made in stacks of non sequential, unmarked bills placed in brown paper bags and deposited on the doorstep of the director.

A grateful pipe-smoking public thanks you.

Very clever. A couple of trustworthy looking gentlemen there. That Cheatum fellow looks a little bit like you, but with some more years.

If yer gonna Tinsky, you'd do well to follow dp's lead. I usually find Tinsky's a little on the 'heavy' looking side, but dp's collection is nice and this is the only one that I'd be able to identify at 100 paces.
