You should get a JMG.
Agreed!

This is definitely a pipe of my desiring.
It blows me away.

Not many pipes have impressed me as much.

Confession. I couldn't hold back from pursuing the pictured JMG. It is expected to arrive today. That''ll be my second artisan and I'll have to come up with a name. The prior one was a Nate King-- I call it the "purple sitter". It's a morta with titanium piece.
Congratulation!
That’s a very special pipe.

Glad to know it went to “one of us.”

My friend, and I dont say that lightly, this is one of the few times I'll ever say this--give in. That pipe is you. It screams useful beauty. Its fit for purpose and rather elegant about it.

I’d not likely part with it, but given how nice it is if I were to sell it it would likely cost more than when it was new.

Ergo: you should skip the middle man and buy it for yourself now.
Please. Save me from myself.

Wow.

Jan makes a beautiful pipe. His blasts are incredible. I love the one I have.
This one is gorgeous and available, and, for what it is, very reasonably priced.

This pipe is definitely in the the “somebody please buy it before I weaken” category.
He is also VERY reasonably priced for an artisan of his quality.
I commissioned a pipe from him a while back - a custom pipe made to order for less then a typical Pete or Savinelli!
Don’t be afraid to email him and ask for something special.

It won’t break the bank.

I put this blasted bamboo shanked pipe in my cart twice already, and took it out each time only after hearing myself agree with my wife, now that we’re retired, no more pipes.
Nah, get it! Then in six months when you are ready I will buy it off you.
If I were to buy it it’s not likely I’d ever part with it.
I have a pipe smoking son’s inheritance to think about.

If I squander his liquid inheritance, the least I could do is leave him the pipes!

Nope. Then when you consider the quality and materials you get at the price he charges you can't expect them to either.

Update.... the USPS seems to be having a real adventure similar to the classic "Oregon Trail" game-- unfortunately there are not as many text updates. The package has not yet arrived. That's right... USPS missed their predicted date by a lot. But!! It is still being tracked and is coming.

Thus, I have not yet had the honor of giving feedback and info about the beauty of the pipe. But I do look forward to it.

The snow dogs finally made the Iditarod run and settled into Arizona to warm up and brought the mail home last night. We'll never know why they took the Alaskan route but everything arrived safely.

It's a beaut of a pipe. Just-- yeah. I've not held any pipe quite like it. A good size-- initially smaller than I thought but just perfect ratios and fits right in the hand. I would have been mistaken if it would have been larger-- it's just right. The curves of the bowl and where the bowl extends to the shank is well done!

Very satisfying and rightfully appealing to the eyes.

I've clenched a little to try it out-- good weight and balance.

I got home late last night and it's a mid chilly for the inaugural smoke this morning. I'll check out the draw this evening. It had an initial appeal but I think the wait through the USPS has made the pipe all the more a "Pipe of Man's Desiring" as after it's arrival I think I like it all the more having seen it in person and having held it.

Agreed!

This is definitely a pipe of my desiring.
It blows me away.

Not many pipes have impressed me as much.

If it were possible, these are two pipes I’d get.

Not that I’m complaining.
I have more than my share.
Confession. I couldn't hold back from pursuing the pictured JMG. It is expected to arrive today. That''ll be my second artisan and I'll have to come up with a name. The prior one was a Nate King-- I call it the "purple sitter". It's a morta with titanium piece.
Update.... the USPS seems to be having a real adventure similar to the classic "Oregon Trail" game-- unfortunately there are not as many text updates.

GA is the most patient of all the patient people. He saw a bit of my non-missionary side as this pipe went lost into the postal black hole for 20 or so days.
I am glad it got there OK...and Congrats on the new pipe!
Also, if you dont like it, I will take it off your hands at a nominal discount for touching icky Protestant lips. :D

JMG is very kind. He has the highest regard for customer satisfaction.

Inaugural pipe smoke experience:

First-- I am out of practice and grabbed what I had nearby on tobacco. It was some fisherofpipes provided content, but, unfortunately it was coin/curly cut which is a style I hadn't worked out. Call it a dry run. I realized I had packed it poorly and that wasn't going to give me a fair assessment--- save it and try later. The wind and the tight (GA didn't break it up the doofus) cut prevented a solid start (and many matches-- doofus!). I blame the user.

The real inaugural smoke:
I had some aged Prince Albert-- I knew him well and knew he would light up. I filled the pipe up to just about 1/2 cm from the top. With one match and a few puffs I had it lit. This pipe smoked like a dream-- nice draw and stayed lit through the whole bowl. I kid you not. One thing I had found challenging of pipe smoking in the past has been "keeping it lit". I wasn't worried about becoming addicted to the nicotine-- but darned if I didn't want to see if I could keep the pipe going through a whole bowl without relighting. That's an addiction!

This pipe was astounding on the first smoke. I enjoyed it as I read a physics book and my wife checked on me a couple times. She's new to me smoking.

The bowl warmed nicely but didn't get too hot. There was very little dottle at the end- smoked very completely.

Dare I name this the "unicorn" pipe?
