Savinelli Brunello Flake from 2014. Bowl is loaded and ready to go. Will smoke in an hour or so - a first time experience. Smells wonderful in the tin.

McCl 40th Aniv in the large, bent JoeGoat Scoop II. Mmmm. A crown jewel of McClelland. To those who have never smoked this, I urge you to get your hands on a tin. You'll never forget it.

Meh.

It's a little on the dry side. Missing a lot of flavor. Still smokable but then again, the bowl I had was entirely from just the crumbs on the bottom of the mason jar..

I will have another bowl from the crumble cake itself and report back.

Fingers crossed.

GH Rich Dark Honeydew, GH Kendal Flake, and SG Grouse-Moor are on the menu for today, all from little jelly-jars I have had since 2012, and all still in good condition!

GLP Fillmore in a Sav Bruna Minuto

Packed and prepared "Rusty Style"; making the slice of flake into a bundle of sticks - have great success with this blend and that method.

I smoked a bowl of Crooner today. Good stuff. Then I smoked a bowl of the Hugodrax recommended Lane BCA mixed with C&D Latakia. That was even better. It really does taste like a chocolate bar but not sweet chocolate bar. It tastes like semi-sweet chocolate.

I have recently been smoking blends created by a fellow who owns a site called Ken Byron Ventures. He is, in my opinion, a very talented blender with an encyclopedic understanding of tobacco and the tobacco business.

His sources for blending are quite varied and he seems to ferret out unusual, rare tobaccos. He alleges that he has access to some tobaccos that are no longer commercially available as well.

Just some examples: on the somewhat aromatic side try Burley Morning Pipe (BMP) and King Black (KB). BMP is nutty, cocoa-y, molasses-like and delicious. KB is also great. A very tasty, mildly aromatic blend. I never smoked aromatics, but these are now in my rotation. No bite, no goop. All day smokes.

For English/ Balkan blends try: Smooth Criminal, Zen Pants and Mountains of Madness. I'm old enough to have smoked most, if not all, of the Sobranie iterations, Sullivan Powell, all of the Dunhills from different blending houses, etc., and to my palate, these blends are just as good, fanciful names notwithstanding.

Mountains of Madness, which reminds me of BS 759, will soon be available again, so look for it. All in all, incredible stuff.
