Circus Peanuts. I can either love 'em or hate 'em depending on the day. I know it's one of the only candies I've thrown up multiple times.
Circus Peanuts
Spangler Circus Peanuts are superior quality and have been a favorite for decades. These fun, peanut-shaped marshmallows are orange-colored and banana flavored but contain no peanuts! Perfect to munch on or in recipes, such as the classic Circus Peanut Gelatin dessert, Spangler's Marshmallow Circus Peanuts are a delicious fat-free candy.
Marshmallow Circus Peanuts were invented in the 1800's. These circus peanuts have been produced by many confectionery manufacturers over the years. They were originally introduced as Spring candy items in the then dominant 5 cent and 10 cent variety stores. Many other unwrapped penny candies were also available. The product at that time was considered a Spring seasonal item. However, with the development of polyethylene film in the late 1940's, it became possible to offer Circus Peanuts on a year-round basis.

For me it was the candy my grandmother made for me every Christmas. It was made with peanut butter and Hershey's cocoa powder. There were other ingredients, but I don't remember them. It's been over forty years since the last time I had it. I sure miss that old woman.

A bit softer than most other gummy/jelly candies. My favorite of the species.

When I was a kid, we'd get those every year at the Children's Museum haunted house. I wouldn't call it candy because they tasted like wax. They didn't even bother to flavor them. But, we had fun with them.

When I was a kid, we'd get those every year at the Children's Museum haunted house. I wouldn't call it candy because they tasted like wax. They didn't even bother to flavor them. But, we had fun with them.
When I was a kid (6 to 10 years old or so), before 7-11 and convenience stores were invented, there was a neighborhood lady who kept a little store in her house. She sold bread, milk, cigarettes and penny candy. When Dad would send me to fetch a pack of cigarettes, he'd give me a quarter for candy.
The wax lips were sugared and flavored with cherry or something. So when they got warm and soft and we were bored with play "Big Lips," we could chew the wax down until the flavor was gone.
