I tend to find the doctrinal books often more helpful in devotion than the devotional books.... I believe that many who find that "nothing happens" when they sit down, or kneel down, to a book of devotion, would find that the heart sings unbidden while they are working their way through a rough bit of theology with a pipe in their teeth and a pencil in their hand.

Donegal Rocky. The Pete I bought from Durango Pipe.

I erred with the quote, though. At the moment I'm actually smoking the Three Star Blue in the 2019 poy, (whatever it is).

No pipe today. Plenty of stress though. Hang in there this will be long.

We are flooded out (normal for this time of year) and when I went to kayak back to the house to check on the cat, I realized I'd forgotten my waders. Crap. So, I moved my wallet and stuff to my coat pocket so it wouldn't get wet. Somewhere along the line my wallet fell in the water. The muddy water. $200 in cash along with all the usual is now MIA.

One of my boys was staying at the hospital with my wife and newly minted baby. This place an hour away from us. We were led to believe he could spend the night with her. He is a sensitive lad and cares deeply for his mother. The hospital staff decided he needed to be kicked out. He is 9 and thought he was gonna land in the street and his mother abandoned. He was reduced to tears. I had to haul a$$ up to the place and wound up collecting him, his mother and brand new baby brother and bringing everybody home. Just another kink in the plans of trying to manage child care, my visiting folks and grandmother as well as their lodgings. Oh. And the hospital vaguely threatened us with CPS if the HOSPITAL couldn't manage to get after care appointments scheduled.

Anyway, my folks offered to help with the lost cash. My baby is healthy. We have a nice place to stay. Hospital staff are still jerks but we are home now. And the song "all my life You have been faithful" is stuck in my head.
