Only if you're buying, in my experience. :D

OGS in an armellini.
Somehow I've never tried Orlik Golden Sliced. I seem to appreciate Virginias more than I used to lately. How would you describe the blend? Is it mostly citrusy and bright or more of a red Virginia, and how prominent is the Perique? I really like Va/Pers, but if it doesn't have a lot of spice it's not necessarily a deal breaker.

I always like Virginia's. I've learned to tolerate some latakia, enjoy burley and the occasional aromatic, but ill always be a Virginia flake smoker.

The four favorite flakes follow: 1) OGS, a bright tobacco, almost effervescent. Honey sweet, no noticeable Perique, good burning and cheap; 2) Best Brown Flake, well behaved, dark spectrum Virginia; 3) Astleys No. 44, marlin flake like, but not quite; 4) Marlin Flake, it just rings my bells.

I really like OGS and try to never be without. You should pick up some on holiday.

Good morning from Greece, wonderful sunny day here in Athens with 17°C. I finished a modification in a Savinelli Canadian and now it's time for relaxation with

Thank you sir, I believe I will do that. I've never really disliked Virginia flakes, just only really liked them in the absolute hottest, most humid months. However, I've been throwing in a tin here and there lately to mix it up and really like them in the afternoon with tea. I've yet to try a Rattray's blend. Can't ever find them in stock, but I liked Wessex Campaign Dark, and McClelland Va/Pers are great.

My English Mystery Mix in my Ser Jacopo R1 bent chimney (or Hungarian?) or tall Dutch billiard? Won it in a Tri-State Pipe & Tobacco Club raffle.

It sure does.... I've had the tin since 2003 if my memory is correct. Wonderful blend! Shame it's no longer produced...
