I tend to find the doctrinal books often more helpful in devotion than the devotional books.... I believe that many who find that "nothing happens" when they sit down, or kneel down, to a book of devotion, would find that the heart sings unbidden while they are working their way through a rough bit of theology with a pipe in their teeth and a pencil in their hand.

If I was clairvoyant and had seen the demise of McClelland beforehand, I'd have bought 100 tins of this stuff and would gladly have sent you at least one tin.

Yeah. I'm working on falling in love with widely available blends. So far so good.

After several days of letting this decant it has become supernatural. That's the only way I can describe it. It beats Tudor Castle. St James Woods. Even 40th Anniversary. The best damn pipe tobacco I have ever smoked. Words fail to describe it.

And I have just one more tin of this remaining. :( I see a tin 2016 tin of this on eBay, currently bidding at $40. I am very tempted and have added it to my watch list. It's only money.

“For preventing disorders arising in several places within this jurisdiction, by reason of some still observing such festivals as were superstitiously kept in other countries, to the great dishonor of God and offence of others, it is therefore ordered by this Court and the authority thereof, that whosoever shall be found observing any such day as Christmas or the like, either by forbearing of labor, feasting, or any other way, upon such accountants as aforesaid, every person so offending shall pay of every such offence five shillings, as a fine to the county.”

Christmas was almost universally accepted throughout the US by 1840, and was eventually declared a National Holiday in 1870.
