Re: pipe sighting

I saw an old man and his wife pulling into Canadian Tire in a huge old Buick. He had a pipe almost as big as the car clenched and tobacco overflowing from the bowl, and smoke filling the car which had all the windows closed. Life goals.

I was watching Booze Traveler on the Travel Channel and the host was in the Chesapeake Bay area and attended a re-enactment and lots of the folks were smoking clay pipes including some of the women.

Last week while near Big Island, VA, I saw a fellow driving along with a pipe in his teeth. It's the first time is a long time I have seen one out in public.

Stumbled across this while reading a fishing book thread.

I watched They Shall Not Grow Old this last week. Excellent and well worth the time (as was the 30 minute follow-up with Peter Jackson after the credits) - probably should be required viewing for school-aged kids. There were lots and lots of pipes among those WW1 soldiers. In one scene, I was amused to see a column of marching soldiers with puffs of smoke emerging from numerous points in the column...every one of them coming from a soldier who was smoking a pipe as he marched.

For one quick example, the guy sitting with the dog in this picture and the guy at the top of the picture (at the peak of the triangle formed by the grass)...

There is a gentleman who waits for his wife at a local company. I see him as I drive my daughter to piano or play practice or friends house. Always there around 5:15 or so waiting in a green minivan with pipe in tow. Funny now I always look for him. I guess one time I should stop and ask what kind of pipe and tobacco he is smoking, and maybe have a new BOB friend.
I saw one of these guys outside our local grocery, smoking a nice lovat. The first pipe smoker I've seen here in years. We used to have a local dentist that smoked a falcon or some other brand of metal stem pipe, never saw him without it.

I'm not going through 45 pages of posts to see if this has already been covered. If it has, I apologize.

I was recently watching Master and Commander again and noticed that in one of the scenes a couple of the younger members of the crew (maybe ten years old?) were smoking pipes while listening to the older crew members pass along knowledge.
