Obvious reason for his calm demeanor.

One last "Ford & pipe" posting from me... his official White House portrait, with pipe in hand.

Not sure if this one was mentioned or not, but I am too lazy to look for it in this thread. Anyway, saw "Wallace and Grommit: Curse of the WereRabbit" the other night. A number of the villagers had pipes in their mouths (but to be sure, none where smoking them). Good movie, too, btw.

I saw Charles Ingalls the other day on Little House on the Prairie in his cabin talking to the Reverand Alden smoking a straight billiard looking pipe.

Just started smoking a pipe myself a couple weeks back. All of a sudden, I see three separate guys this week, driving with pipes clenched in their teeth, puffing away...

I have been doing the same in my work truck... (puffing, not clenching)

When the weather is nice, I'll eat lunch at my desk and "work" while I eat. Then for lunch, I'll go to the lake and park in some shade under some huge oak trees. At times, there is a gentleman there at one of the covered picnic tables with a book and a pipe puffing away. After seeing this, when I know the weather is good, and I am not busy, I'll take a long lunch and smoke my pipe at the same picnic table hoping to strike up conversation. Only thing is, he's there when I don't have my pipe, and when I have my pipe with me, he's no where to be seen.

When I was standing at th intersection just before my house yesterday, an old pickup went by. The driver was a bearded, early-middle-age man smoking a straight billiard. I would have saltued, but, somehow, I was not smoking at the time.

Most mornings when I pull into the parking lot at work there is an old grounds keeper that everytime I see him he is smoking a straight billiard. I talked to him once, inside so no smoking, and found out he prefers cavendish blends.

That is soooo awesome! I was just thinking about one of his tunes, "Maker of the Universe". That is so cool that he smokes! That just made my day!

Phil is an amazing musician. I was fortunate enough to "jam" with him for about 10 minutes before seeing him do a 2 hour performance. It was encouraging when he told me that he couldn't read music :-D (I can't read music either...)

Good ol' Bing Crosby in White Christmas. I swear I was born 40 years too late.

You are now going to send me scrambling to find the Looney Tunes episode with Bing Crosby sitting on the park bench smoking his pipe singing "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby"!

I just got my nephew two of the Dennis the Menace comics series (the big books of the original strips). He loves Dennis. Anyhow, in the old strip, Dennis' dad is smoking his pipe in EVERY PANEL.

Ah, the 50's.
