What an interesting journey this box has taken, next time we should include a small journal where we can jot notes and keep passing it in future box passes.

Look here, Mr. Teacher Boy.

Ain't no one here looking to do homework on a box pass, umm-kay?

So if you could just shut yer pie hole, that'd be great.

Box contents on arrival (minus tall mason jar, which I replaced with zip lock bag. Two glass jars in the same box could break).
Image

Changes made to contents: 1) removed Irish Limerick from tall mason glass jar and placed in zip lock bag. Carefully repacked 1 remaining smaller glass jar to minimize risk of breakage. Whoever's tall mason jar this was, if you want it back, let me know and I'll send it to you. 2) removed stems from the two pipes and re-wrapped.
Image

Taken, and thankful. I just ran out of SWR, and blueberries are my favorite fruit.

Given. (The Rattray's Stirling Flake is supposed to be a lot like Peterson Irish Flake)

Sorry for the "dead air" guys....

I got the box pass on the day of departure for a 4 day camping trip. What luck! A quick check of the calendar and I discovered I could indeed take the box with me and still get it out in the mail to meet rule #5 of UB's rules and regulations.

Image

Comments from the box:

Sort through Winton's wonderful tampers and select one that suits my fancy.

I'm not much of a tobacco reviewer, and with no internet to research what components are in each blend, I was "flying blind"....

Here are my notes:
Afternoon smoke Friday: a bowl of whiskey rope. A nice deep flavor (Kentucky dark fired?) with some slightly sweet topping (uhhhh, Whiskey?). This was good stuff. I think I smoked it a bit fast and ended with a mild case of hiccups. I think I'll get some of this.

Evening smoke Friday: Limmerick. This was a nice even keeled VA/PER. Slightly tangy. While I enjoyed it, there are so many other VA/PERs that I have developed a taste for, I'm not sure I'd come back to this, but maybe....

Saturday afternoon: Crosseyed Cricket. A slightly sweet English. Latakia was not overpowering. I enjoyed this. Solidly in the 'not bad' category. I could see buying this someday.

Sunday afternoon: a bowl of Back Down South (Va/Per) didn't make the room spin, bit I was outside.....

Sunday evening: a bowl of C&D Gentleman Caller (with Deer Tongue) my wife quickly identified this as Aromatic, and I agree. A nice mild smoke.

Since it was early, I followed this with the last of the Whiskey Rope (sorry guys)

My takes (besides Wonderful Winton Wooden Tamper):
Image
Rattray Stirling Flake
Lemon sucker (incl a few ants)
Nail Tamper (not pictured) --- I can't have too many of these
Jester's Golden Toad Steak Seasoning
Jack Daniel's Zippo
I thought about taking the Neck Tie simply because it would smell good from being in such close proximity to all of these wonderful tobaccos, but decided to leave it for someone with more opportunity to wear it....

My puts:
Image
McC Christmas Cheer 2009
C&D Joie De Vivre
GLP Meridian
Samples of C&D Seersucker, and C&D Triple Play
Plus: Concealed Carry magazine & Nerf Football with Ford oval (made in China) -- not pictured

"Lord willin' and the creek don't rise" I'll get this out tomorrow.

Mich.

One of the cool things about Mr. Box Pass is being able to sample stuff you'd never buy.

I have tried 3 samples today.

Match Presby - meh minus. I wasn't a Presbyterian guy before so, don't have a real good view on comparison. It wasn't to my liking.

Kramer's English - man what a baggie note! Packed a light small bowl in a Block Meer. 1/4 bowl later i dumped it and thought, only 3 1/2A is more revolting than this.

Sterling's VA Per - Hey now. Only the last 1/4 bowl became a bit more peppery than I like. Makes me wonder if it's technique and not leaf. Might look at the VA Per's. Again.

The black The Pipe looks fantastc. Like a cat turd polished to a fine sheen, it deceives.

Already taken - 3 Winton tampers, the Smoking Pipes logo pin, & both pens.

I wonder if hot tea might not be a good idea with VA Pers. hmmmmmmm. Early Gray or Oolong, perhaps. Hmmmmmmmmm.
