Room note of a pipe?

Post by ryland » Mon Feb 26, 2018 2:00 pm

I smoke in our living room. Anything heavier than an aromatic like Captain Black makes it difficult for my wife. However, I've noticed that I can smoke captain black in pipes that have been mostly used for VAs and it is still too much for her. Same tobacco, different pipe and it gets to be too much for her. I don't tell her what pipe I'm smoking, but she picks it up quickly.

Anyone else go through something similar?

No. My wife graciously allows me to smoke outside, in the comfort of the great outdoors.

Frankly, I envy you your problem.

Even reading about pipes in the house is too much for my wife.

The only stuff Mrs FredS will tolerate is "the stuff grandpa smoked". Of course nothing I've ever tried comes anywhere close to what grandpa smoked.

I suspect he smoked Captain Black or Prince Albert because that's what everyone in the 60's smoked, but neither of those trigger anything near pleasant memories for her.

I read your responses to my wife and they got us to laugh out loud. She is a gracious and wonderful wife.

Try McClelland X-60. Many ladies associate that with Grandpa. Of course, many ladies just don't want you smoking in the house.
