Tobacco, textiles/cotton, and coal. Seems the federal gov'ment doesn't care much for the livelihood of the southern working man.
Lots of cotton around here and the farmers are all dancing in the streets because cotton just got added again to the farm bill.
Mayhaps I should have left cotton off the list.
Friendly policies keep US oil and coal afloat far more than we thought

Maybe the "southern working man" is misinformed.
Damit Bob. You're spoiling my narrative.
Informing with facts is stupid anyways

That's a real bummer. I'm mostly an English blend guy, and Frog Morton is my 2nd favorite English blend. I know many people for whom that is their #1 favorite English blend.

I'd say it was my #1.

I'm still in shock about this. My thoughts when I first heard about the crop failure was that they'd work through that and that all would be well, because their tobaccos were simply too good to go away.

As a result I'm now kicking myself because of such optimism. I missed a window of opportunity to hunt down much more of the McCl blends that I love. One, for instance, is the blissful, celestial Aurora. For those here who have smoked Aurora and liked it, you know what I mean. Canadian Rusty pointed me to Aurora. He once wrote that he smoked a tin of it in just a couple days. He couldn't help himself, it was so good.

The grieving process has only begun.....

Reminds me of EBITDA. I used to have a boss that was fascinated by and fixed on EBITDA.

having just starting into the realm of pipes a year ago, McClelland was, by the grace of God, one of my first purchases due to your contributions on this forum. So, I guess I have you all to blame for getting me hooked on such a great brand, and now poof!........like the whispy, ethereal tendrils rising from my bowl, soon dissipated by the breeze.......they're gone........sigh.....

Good thing I bought several cans to put away.......

Too bad I couldn't buy in bulk, up here in the frozen wasteland that is currently Canada.......

For a sec there I thought it was Wos. Or maybe a collaboration with Wos and Durango.

I think I'm set for what remains of my pipe smoking days. But I have 4 tins of fmott reserved, along with 8 oz of bulk English, anyway.
I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)

Yesterday I determined to smoke a bowl of something today. I haven’t smoked in a long time, planning to take it up again in due time some year down the road. The loss of McClellend, along with so many other good things in my life lately has left me mildly unhappy. This morning I woke up with a bad cold putting a stop to my plan to smoke something today. God must love me, he must be trying to teach me something, I’m just not feeling the love yet is all.

A friend of mine owns his own company and was telling me about EBITDA just a week ago. So this is twice in one week I'm hearing about EBITDA.

I believe that by now the inventory of McClelland branded tobacco has largely been depleted here in the States. Most of the flakes are gone especially those which contain red Virginia leaf. Perhaps a tin or two might be available here or there. However, for those willing to pay a premium there are some British tobacconists and perhaps others in Europe who have some inventory. One might not be able to do business using a credit card but some retailers will accept wire transfers.

Yep. My "home" shop placed a purchase limit on McC's blends. Otherwise their entire stock would already all be gone, they said. Theyre letting what they have just dribble out. But for their very best customers (like me) they set back a few items. "Only x tins per customer?", I asked. "Yes, so be sure to bring your wife along", he replied.

I did just yesterday find some McCl Stave Aged Virginia tins made for their 35th Anniversary at a Brick & Mortar in Wash, D.C., GTTobacco. But I've received no confirm email from them so it may not even be there.
