I voted today!

Post by Winton » Tue Nov 06, 2018 7:18 am

Today, I walked two blocks to the UMC church, where I have been voting for about 20 years. Unfortunately our election records were sent to the UMC church three towns north of us. Everything resolved within an hour.

I did not vote nor do I plan to. I've taken a rather fatalistic view on the whole thing. The Father has laid out history and my faith is in Him, not these fallen creatures we call politicians.

Besides. People say "you didn't vote so don't complain", I say "I didn't vote for him/her so you can't blame me!"

I typically vote after work, but there's usually a long wait, so I decided to vote before work this year. Got there just before 6 and there were maybe 50 people ahead of me, but the three old ladies were on the ball and things moved efficiently and according to the ballot submitting machine it looks like I was the 27th person to submit my ballot. It was a long ballot this year, but I went in prepped so I was able to get in and out pretty quick.

Were you smoking a pipe when this voting occurred? Did you buy tobacco on the way to the polls? Were you given a cigar upon casting your vote? This is the Pipes & Tobacco section, is it not?

I enjoy the voting ritual.
It is empowering.
See the same election officials year after year which I also enjoy.
Have a feeling most of the candidates I support will not get elected.
But as ID says, we shall see.

Yes this should be moved to the 'Fellowship Section.'
If I knew how to do so I would. Maybe one of the smarter mods will

Go figure that your voting stickers come with the Texas flag too. The rest of us don’t get our state flag on them. :(

To think how close I came. . . :)

I voted yesterday. I left the sticker lying on the table.

I'm with you. Except I think the most of the people I voted for will get elected.

There were a lot of unopposed local county positions. It got me to wondering what would happen if an unopposed candidate got no votes.
