Ok, finally feeling up to this. So sorry.

Takes: tin of fusilier's ration.

Puts: tin of Scotch Cake, a nice pipe, and sundry odd things.

Out in the morning to dl.
I was tempted. But the chamber was a wee tall for me.

Got the box. Took the McConnell Scotch Cake & C&D Interlude - both new to me. Put in a couple of my favorites: GH Best Brown #2 & Peterson Hyde Park.

Also, I applied some obsidian oil to the stem of the Schoenleber cutty that Hugo put in the box, and decided to hold onto that. Found some really cool history of that brand. I figure the pipe to be at least 50 years old. Hugo - I'd love to hear more about this pipe from you.

The individually packaged Tobacco Fairy blend samples DL put in smell amazing - I'm probably going to smoke this in the Baby Mod later today. What is this blend?

I'm in the middle of moving right now so it may be a couple days before I can ship, but I will update once the box is on its way. Also, Lord willing, if I can locate which box it is in I plan to include a zippered Erik Stokkebye 4th Gen leather tobacco pouch - one of those things I thought I'd use, but I really don't, so maybe someone else would like it.

I tend to find the doctrinal books often more helpful in devotion than the devotional books.... I believe that many who find that "nothing happens" when they sit down, or kneel down, to a book of devotion, would find that the heart sings unbidden while they are working their way through a rough bit of theology with a pipe in their teeth and a pencil in their hand.

At Burlington City Park with the family. Got our spot staked out for some July 3rd (not a typo) fireworks. Smoking Pittsboro-style: Foggy bottom in the DL Baby Mod.

Um no rush, I leave on a little vacation with the family Monday and won't be back until Friday evening.

Adam,

Here's a link to a pipepedia article. https://pipedia.org/wiki/Schoenleber.

It's a little different from what I've been told, but close enough I think we can reconcile the differences. It's a genuine U.S. handmade, and my guess has always been from the thirties through early 1940's due to the absence of an orific bit; however, to be very Frank, I do not know that the stem is original and personally rather doubt that it is.

In any road, it's pretty unlikely that that shape was made very far into the '50's, as it's very archaic at that point.

May you have joy of it. That's a unique piece of American hand made pipe making and I'm glad you snapped it up.

Ha! I guess the pipe and shirt did go together. That wasn't intentional.

Speaking of that pipe... DL - do tell me which MM model the Baby Mod was based off of. Was it the Mini? The Morgan? Something else?

The box should be in the mail tomorrow. It's been a crazy couple of days, moving and whatnot. Sorry guys.

Also of note - those General Grant cigars are ugly as sin, but I smoked one last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. Smoking it to the nub, I finished it off in the Baby Mod - first time I've smoked a cigar in a pipe. I was disappointed to find that all the online retailers I saw who carry them are currently sold out on them. I'd buy a box of 30 coronas for $30-40. For an inexpensive "everyday" smoke, these are good. Thanks, Jester!
