I tend to find the doctrinal books often more helpful in devotion than the devotional books.... I believe that many who find that "nothing happens" when they sit down, or kneel down, to a book of devotion, would find that the heart sings unbidden while they are working their way through a rough bit of theology with a pipe in their teeth and a pencil in their hand.

I'm still off the pipe for now but thought I'd check in. We got hit in the nards here in the arm pit of the Midwest with a bout of global warming. I've a nice sized wood stove that can't keep up where it usually heats the entire house quite nicely. It's "freeze your nose hairs" cold out there. We will have an 80*F temp swing over the next couple days with more rain. Like we need more of that!
