Back on the Bench

Post by JudgeRusty » Thu Jun 16, 2016 11:15 pm

I involved CPS by way of prayer requests in 2013 as I started progress through my application to become an Administrative Law Judge for the government.
The application process is 6+ stages and involves 2 federal agencies and can include two trips to DC for testing and interviews.
Between 5000 and 6000 applied at the same time when the window opened in March of 2013. Ultimately, they may hire 200 from the group.
I was informed that I did not make the cut midway through 2013 after a couple of the preliminary stages.
Here is the link to that thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=31731&hilit=alj

Last summer I received a notice that I had in fact not been cut and should come to DC for further testing and interviews. I went in October for what is roughly hoop #5 of the process. I advanced and was invited back to DC in May for another interview, but this time with an agency with hiring authority as opposed to the personnel evaluation agency.

Following that I was notified that I was qualified to be an ALJ for the Social Security Administration Office of Disability Adjudication and Review and was a candidate (along with hundreds of others) for locations in 77 cities across the US. Actually, at this point, it was still a long shot to be hired.

Trying, but failing, to make a long story short, I received an offer Monday to be a Disability Judge in Roanoke, Virginia commencing July 25. I accepted. If I explained more of the process and my circumstances, you would see the providence involved in my obtaining this position.

There remains much to do to relocate and adjust to a new area and a new vocation. There is even more to do involved with detaching the roots placed down from 44 years residence in the same town, including all of my adult life. The Lord has brought me thus far and I have complete faith that He is more than able to work out all the details of my near future transition.

Take time to praise the Lord for what He is doing in my life. Pray that I will keep a watchful eye for His will being done and seek to step into the middle of it.

Thank you to all of those who spoke general and specific prayers on my behalf. I thank God for the part of this community that helped me live through some tough times over the past 5 years.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal

Congratulations! I barely made an application deadline for bankruptcy clerk of court position. More of a lark really as I don't really expect to make it to the interview process. But your testimony does give me hope after not having a full-time for several years.

Prob not. An administrative law judge settles cases between interested parties and federal and state agencies. EPA, Social Security, etc.
