My Turn Now

I was leaving the office for lunch one day and a lady drove up and asked to speak with me for a moment. We went back inside and she began to tell her story. She had been a single mom in desperate circumstances several times, and churches where she lived, had come to her aid. It was enough to give her courage to continue on. She then handed me the piece of paper she held in her hand. It was a check, a very large check.

She said, "Bro. Danny, I have always believed in the Lord, and He never let me down. He has blessed me. I want this to be used to help others, and I know this church does that. It's my turn now."

"Praise be to the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

Danny R. Biddy, retired pastor of Old River Baptist Church from 1977-2017.

Ha! I'm not "Danny". I just shared his latest devotional; I hope not his last one. He retired just this past Sunday, after 40 years service at a church I attended for about 15 years, before moving from that area.
