Thankful...

Post by JMG » Tue Dec 19, 2017 6:21 pm

My friend that passed away recently here on the mission base was a huge Cubs fan. It's what initially bonded us as friends. After his death I remembered reading that the Cubs chaplain is a Catholic priest who graduated from the same university as me. So, I decided to contact him and see if he, or someone else from the Cubs organization, would be willing to send a letter of condolence to my friend's wife and four sons. I received an e-mail today from the Cubs' office of the Chairman saying they would be happy to help.

This has been a tough loss for our entire missionary community and obviously so much more so for my friend and her sons. The death of her husband, Bizo, was very sudden. He went from being the star player of our soccer game to being home with our Lord in just a matter of seconds. I know this letter from the Cubs will be a huge encouragement to his family for years to come. I'm really happy they were willing to help with this.

You know something? You make my day. Those men and women in Huwa territory have just about the finest pastor I've ever seen. May God bless you and hold you in the palm of His hand.

That's awesome, JM. Very thoughtful of you to arrange that.

You're a good friend JM.

As hard as your friends death has been on you, you're thinking of - and helping - others.

God Bless you.

The letter arrived today and was actually signed by the Cubs owner, Tom Ricketts. Very thankful.

Well, they have a new fan over here. That cost them nothing, but shows immense class.
