Proverbs reading

Post by StoicDetective » Thu Feb 01, 2018 7:40 pm

I've started a 13 day read through proverbs via my bible app on my phone. ... (lucky 13 right?!) ...

Anyway, ... for some reason, through this reading plan God is convicting me that I don't listen enough to him him. ... all I prayed for was more discernment and understanding.

Yes, I have had that feeling from time to time myself recently. As well as a general conviction that I am coming up sorely wanting in just spending time reading scripture.

Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:6,7 ESV

Keep at it. Stay faithful. It's not in any of our powers to command manifest signs and the clear feeling of Presence. Stay the course.

Followup: I asked my wife why this couldn't be simple. It was a simple request.

She stopped what she was doing. Looked at me. Then said, "Babe, nothing is simple between God and you. Never has been. Plus, you asked for it."

... I nothing to further to say.
Literally nothing ... I just stood there ... dumfounded.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

I love this. Proverbs is probably my favorite book. Pray for wisdom, understanding, knowledge and insight.

If you read a proverb a day, you can repeat every month! (There are 31 chapters)

God's word is transforming! Your hunger for His word is an answer to your very prayer. He is calling you to hear Him speak. He speaks through His word. Stay the course.

As for wisdom, James 1:5 (KJV)
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

The God of all creation who loves you and died for you to be saved has promised that if you ask, He will give you wisdom and not hold anything back! What a great and FAR to often unclaimed gift from our Father.

God bless you brother and thank you for the testimony.
