Need help on Mystery Pipe. "Artistic Briar, Burlington, VT."

Post by Goose55 » Fri Jul 06, 2018 7:56 pm

I won a nicely grained pipe on eBay and the only stamping is "Artistic Briar, Burlington, VT." There is no logo on the stem. I looked in Pipedia and ran a Google search but came up with nothing. In this pic you may be able to make out the stamping. Anyone here able to shed some light on the history of such a pipe?

An email to Steve Norse at Vermont Freehand even came up with nada. I have contacted a couple artisans he referred me to and am awaiting any response

Thanks, and it may be that I won't find anything. My gut is telling me that whoever it was that stamped the pipe "Artistic Briar, Burlington, VT" didn't stamp too many, for if they did, it would be easier to identify.

I heard back from one of the pipe makers Vermont Freehand Steve Norse referred me to, J.T. Cooke. Cooke wasn't able to identify it either. Nor could eBay's Steve Fallon (PipeStud). And Fallon has seen thousands of pipes come through his shop.

I usually use that if there is a stem logo in which case there is none.

It is a beautiful pipe. Here's my pic I made of it this morning. I love the way the birds-eye on the rim look like Polka Dots. And the line right down the middle of the bowl separating two types of grain, vertical and flame.
