Re: Pipe Acquisitions 2019
In this, my 2nd year of pipe smoking, my PAD has been out of control. They say that the first step to recovery is to recognize that you have a problem. So my resolution for 2020 is to only purchase ONE pipe. I will allow myself that one because I'm not going to kid myself by saying that I won't buy a pipe all year.

Re: Pipe Acquisitions 2019
Well I ended up with two for the year.
That said, I have a line on a very good deal on a beautiful pipe that I hope to buy in January and start the year off with a new one. Think I might need to sell some Margate to make it happen though.

Funny you should say that because I was just thinking of asking if anyone had any Esoterica they would consider selling. Or any Germain tins.

This year I acquired an estate BBB saddle bit billiard, a KBB era Yello Bole bent Rhodesian, a 1930s Yello Bole saddle bit bulldog, a Marxman apple, and a new in box Grabow duke billiard.

I missed out on a $60 some odd Calabash. Told myself "wait till payday" and somebody hit the Buy It Now. I had showed it to my wife saying "these things just do not show up for that price." Sad day.

I have had that talk too. You don’t understand, it’s a Dunhill for under $200! Blank stare.AnungUnRama wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 8:19 pmI missed out on a $60 some odd Calabash. I’ve heard good things about those.

I saw a Jody Davis go for $150. I had distinctly remembered seeing that particular one on his website for north of $600.arank87 wrote:I have had that talk too. Re: Pipe Acquisitions 2019
Well I started off in Feb with a Wally Fran Billiard, but after 2 smokes I wasn't liking it, so it went back on the auction site and sold. Then Adam Z started talking about the Stanwell 11 and I was hooked, I had to find one too. I did and that was going to be it for the year. Then Durangopipe conducted his sell-off and I wound up with 2, a Savinelli Tundra and a Comoy Zulu. That was going to be it, but just last week, a Parker was on the auction site and I make an $11 offer and snuck one more in for a total of 4 additions in 2019. I think I will be able to make 2020 a two pipe year.

Re: Pipe Acquisitions 2019
You know there are still a few hours left of the year. Someone out there could decide to sell a Pete 999 or calabash for a price I can live with. ;0)
If that doesn't happen, my acquisitions for the year will have been a net zero. I sold a Pete silver cap billiard (which I will probably regret) and gained another Pete billiard from Durangopipe. Oh no! I am wrong. I got a Stanwell system from my secret santa! Perfect for short smokes.
