A Savinelli I decided to try cleaning up.

It’s coming along. I’ve got a reamer kit coming today so I can clean up the bowl.

You've brought it a long way. I suspect that pipe could tell some stories.

My small collection of 1st gen Peterson Kildare pipes. One needed stem cleaned up but the other two just needed tobacco.

Edward's Algerian briar pipes.

These are hidden gems. I have one and was my best smoker right out of the box. They are oil cured old Algerian briar. Two things which are hard to find nowadays. They come in natural finishes in mostly moderate sizes. You can find some new old stock ones on rare occasions. I recommend them highly. I had a new cumberland type stem because it came with lucite.

I think I remember seeing a couple of these in a local shop. I may have to go back and take a second look. I hadn’t heard of them before

So it’s time for a little update. PAD is real. I’ve spent far too much time on Auctions and searching pipe websites. At first I just wanted a 7 day briar rotation to go with my cobs. Things got a little fuzzy after that.

Image

At the moment there are 5 estate pipes on their way to me and I’ve decided to try my hand at pipe restoration.
That's not a bad start. :D

My PAD is mostly sated these days but Comoy's and Stanwell's are still my Achille's heel either new or estate. I do like Dunhill's but am too cheap to spend that kind of money on pipes that I can make myself for nothing. Lot's of great pipes out there under $100 anyway.

Smoked the Comoy’s pipe. Tasted a bit strange so it’s time to clean it.

I would check for cracks in the stem and bowl. I have been to some antique shops that wanted $90 for a no name pipe that had seen better days.

Those three in the middle are Edward’s Algerian Briar from London, England. The billiards are quite large but feel light. They are marked $30 each. I’m contemplating that author.

I could have sworn they had at least England if not London, England stamped on them but looking online that doesn’t match up.

I successfully navigated the first time Cleon brought up Edwards. This time I bought two - cheap: a canadian and a billiard. Both are very light. I’m looking forward to taking them for a test drive.

Well, if it's Canadian, then it's not from England. Oh wait... it might be nvm

Picked up this beautiful Peterson Kapruf. I’ve got two more from the Kapruf series coming. I found a straight P-lip to be among my favorite pipes.
